BES data on J/psi --> gamma(K+K- pi(0)) display a strong peak in the K
+K- pi(0) mass spectrum at 1450 MeV. This peak and a corresponding one
in J/psi --> gamma(eta pi(+)pi(-)) at similar to 1400 MeV may be fitt
ed well by eta(1440) with dominant decays to K (890)K, using an s-dep
endent width in the Breit-Wigner amplitude. A broad background is also
required in KK, (where K-0 stands for the K pi S-wave) and also in et
a pi pi, but is probably not resonant in this mass range. (C) 1998 Pub
