Om. Mikhailik et al., TRANSMISSION MOSSBAUER-SPECTROSCOPY STUDY OF THE SURFACE OF IRON POWDERS - FEASIBILITY AND RESULTS, Surface and interface analysis, 26(12), 1998, pp. 885-888
Transmission Mossbauer spectroscopy has been used to obtain informatio
n on structural and chemical conversions in the surface layers during
preparation of finely dispersed iron powders by high-temperature reduc
tion of alpha-FeOOH. The two-stage technique of preparing Fe-56-based
particles with an Fe-57 surface layer makes it possible to obtain high
-quality Mossbauer spectra from surface layers 4-5 nm thick on differe
nt reduction stages. The investigations performed allowed us to consid
er the possibility of studying physicochemical processes in ultrathin
surface layers by means of transmission Mossbauer spectroscopy. (C) 19
