Dm. Shkrabo et al., THE ETHYLENE CARBON-MONOXIDE COPOLYMER (CARILON) VIBRATIONAL-SPECTRA AND STUDY OF NANOMETER FILMS ON GOLD COVERED SUBSTRATE, Vibrational spectroscopy, 17(2), 1998, pp. 155-162
Vibrational spectroscopy (IR, far IR), differential scanning calorimet
ry and X-ray diffraction were used to study ethylene-carbon monoxide c
opolymer ('Carilon') in the form of nanometer films on gold covered si
licon substrates, thin films (approximate to 60 mu m) and plates (0.1-
0.2 mm). The Vibrational spectra of Carilon were calculated and interp
reted using model normal coordinate analysis. This allowed to explain
the IR spectra features of nanometer thickness Carilon films by compar
ison with the bulk material (thin film and plate) by orientation of po
lymer chains relative to metal surface and changes of the crystal stru
cture of the films and chain conformation with thickness increase. (C)
