The adsorption of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA or H4Y; Y- ani
on of EDTA) and its salts on gamma-alumina and titania supports have b
een investigated by transmission FT-LR. The IR spectra in the 1800-120
0 cm(-1) region of the supported complexones are quite different from
those of the unsupported compounds. The results obtained imply that th
e observed changes in the properties of adsorbed chelates are mainly d
ue to interaction of the chelate molecules with support hydroxyl group
