Rr. Wakefield, APPLICATION OF EXTENDED STOCHASTIC PETRI NETS TO SIMULATION AND MODELING OF CONSTRUCTION SYSTEMS, Civil engineering and environmental systems (Print), 15(1), 1998, pp. 1-22
An extended stochastic Petri net approach to modelling and simulation
of construction systems is developed. The basics of Petri nets, a tech
nique previously used for modelling computer systems and automated man
ufacturing, are described. Extended stochastic Petri net features usef
ul in construction systems modelling are detailed along with structure
s that can represent characteristics commonly present in construction
systems. Two illustrative examples are presented and the advantages an
d disadvantages of extended stochastic Petri nets as a tool for constr
uction system modelling are discussed.
