The improved mobility of residual oil, attained by the formation of mi
croemulsions in low-tension flooding could be made to apply to acid st
imulation. By formation of microemulsions, the oil restraining viscosi
ty- and capillary forces could be drastically reduced. The formation o
f water- as well as emulsionblock can therefore be prevented The oil s
aturation in the near-well bore area can be reduced and the water wett
ability of the zone increased resulting in a better access for treatme
nt with water based acids The acid reaction rate is also retarded prev
enting faster acid breakthrough and fingering.
