Abstract
Opaque and hyaline zones in otoliths (sagittae) of 67 specimens of Hop lostethus atlanticus (Teleostei: Trachichthyidae) were measured as int ensity (width of the zone) and distance along the growth axis of the o tolith. Comparison of the patterns in opaque and hyaline zone intensit y distribution with length modes in the sample and with ages estimated from daily microincrements showed no relationship.
