SOME PREHOMOGENEOUS REPRESENTATIONS DEFINED BY CUBIC FORMS

Using the notion of Jordan pairs, we give an axiomatic construction of some linear representation of an algebraic group over an arbitrary co mmutative ring. This representation is prehomogeneous in the sense tha t all the geometric fibers are prehomogeneous vector spaces module sca lar multiplications. We also determine one generic stabilizer.
