Abstract
Singlemode and multimode Ag+-Na+ exchanged channel waveguides have bee n formed in germanate glass. The mode profiles and propagation losses of these channel waveguides at 1.55 mu m have been measured. The measu red propagation loss is < 2dB/cm in channel waveguides.
