Abstract
The correlations of the extent of the melting region with the reflecti vity Z measured immediately below the melting layer and the rain rate R near the ground in stratiform and convective precipitation are repor ted. A total number of 2169 range-height indicator (RHI) scans recorde d by the S-band Chilbolton advanced meteorological radar (CAMRa) [1] h ave been used for this study.
