Abstract
Clinical features, diagnosis, and therapy of dermatophilosis are descr ibed with respect to the occurrence of this skin disease in imported h eifers, as well as horses and chamoises. So far, dermatophilosis was n ever described in Austria, and there exist only few reports from other countries in Central Europe. Furthermore, zoonotic aspects of dermato philosis are discussed. In light of the increasing international trade with animals, the responsibility of veterinarians for animal and also human health is emphasized.
