Abstract
A good knowledge of the structure of zeolites is required for the unde
rstanding of their selective sorption capacities and of their catalyti
c properties. In particular, the dimensions of the channels and cages,
the positions of the exchangeable cations and their interaction withi
n the framework are of great interest. The present study deals with th
e accurate crystal structure determination of a fully exchanged and fu
lly dehydrated LiA zeolite (Li96Al96Si96O384) by X-ray diffraction on
a single crystal. This work shows that the cation exchange distorts th
e skeleton, especially around the oxygen linking the AlO4 and SiO4 tet
rahedra. (C) Academie des sciences/Elsevier, Paris.
