Ky. Lam et al., THE TRANSIENT-RESPONSE OF A 2-LAYERED ELASTIC CYLINDRICAL-SHELL IMPINGED BY AN UNDERWATER SHOCK-WAVE, Composites. Part B, Engineering, 29(6), 1998, pp. 673-685
The governing equations of a two-layered circular cylindrical shell ha
ve been derived. A recently developed theoretical approximation, the r
eflected-afterflow-virtual-source (RAVS) model was applied to determin
e the fluid-structure interaction. Cases of two-layered infinitive len
gth elastic cylindrical shell impinged by planar shock waves were inve
stigated by using finite difference method. Results by using this mode
l were compared to those by using the software USA/LSDYNA3D, and they
are in good agreement. Some parametric studies were done to study the
effect of the Young's modulus Ei and thickness hi of the structure on
the transient responses of the shell. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier S
