S. Norburn et D. Silvester, STABILIZED VS. STABLE MIXED METHODS FOR INCOMPRESSIBLE-FLOW, Computer methods in applied mechanics and engineering, 166(1-2), 1998, pp. 131-141
The accuracy of low-order mixed finite element methods for the incompr
essible Navier-Stokes equations is investigated in this work. Some num
erical experiments suggest that the lowest-order stabilised P-1-P-0 me
thod (linear velocity, constant pressure) is more efficient than the a
lternative a priori stable non-conforming Crouzeix-Raviart (P-1-P-0) a
pproach. The relative accuracy of stabilised P-1-P-0 and P-1-P-1 (line
ar velocity, continuous linear pressure) is assessed herein. (C) 1998
