Bm. Hirst et Hl. Hess, LOW-FLICKER UNIVERSAL POWER CONVERTER FOR FILAMENT-BASED HEATING PROCESSES, IEEE transactions on industry applications, 34(6), 1998, pp. 1284-1292
For filament-based heating processes, a minimum-component power conver
ter topology with a universal line voltage interface virtually elimina
tes flicker. It provides asynchronous linear power control, with unity
power factor and low harmonic content over a wide range of power leve
ls. With common control methods, it exploits the natural behavior of f
ilament-based heating processes. The topology is derived, its linear p
ower control is developed and simulated, and its experimental performa
nce is presented.
