The Silicon-Film(TM) technology is designed to capture the low costs a ttributed to thin films while retaining the high performance and stabi lity of crystalline silicon, The progression of the Silicon-Film(TM) t echnology is followed fr om the concept stage through the various deve lopment stages and into manufacturing. Results at key development stag es, the lessons learned and some of the pitfalls along the commerciali zation path are described. Some university research opportunities are discussed.
