Ai. Nissinen et al., HEADBOX CONTROL USING A MULTIVARIABLE PI CONTROLLER IN A DISTRIBUTED AUTOMATION SYSTEM - THE CONTROLLERS HAVE ADVANTAGES IN NORMAL PRODUCTION, Pulp & paper Canada, 98(5), 1997, pp. 38-41
The operating speed of paper machines is increasing rapidly which pose
s new challenges to the control systems of different subprocesses e.g.
a headbox. In this paper, control of the headbox with a multivariable
PI controller implemented in an industrial automation system has been
studied. The results were good and proved the advantage of a multivar
iable controller during normal production run and in special situation
s. Special attention was paid to the configuration of different contro
ller modes and the start-up of the headbox process.
