Abstract
In this paper we present our preliminary results of the plasma immersi on ion implantation (PI3) treatment of boronised and laser surface tre ated layers. The substrate treatment was followed by the PI3 treatment . The structural changes in the surface layers of pretreated substrate s due to PI3-treatments at various temperatures will also be discussed . In addition, the property changes characterised by microhardness and wear tests are presented. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
