Abstract
Aminoglycoside antibiotics including gentamicin, bekanamycin, tobramyc in, lincomycin, neomycin, kanamycin, and ribostamycin have been determ ined by CE-EC with copper electrodes. Both copper wall-jet electrodes (WJEs) and copper on-capillary electrodes (OCEs) were evaluated. The O CEs provided mu M detection limits, superior stability and reproducibi lity (2-3% relative standard deviation in oxidation current), and a si mple instrumental set-up without the need for capillary/electrode alig nment. The analytical capabilities of the Cu-OCE were examined, follow ing the optimization of CE conditions, for the seven aminoglycosides a bove; and the practical utility of this approach was demonstrated thro ugh the determination of aminoglycoside antibiotics in three pharmaceu tical preparations.
