I. Dekany et Lg. Nagy, INTERLAMELLAR ADSORPTION OF BINARY-LIQUID MIXTURES AND SOLUTIONS ON PARTIALLY HYDROPHOBIZED SILICATE SURFACE, Magyar kemiai folyoirat, 103(9), 1997, pp. 427-436
The solid/liquid interfacial sorption was investigated in miscible and
partially miscible binary mixtures on swelling and non-swelling layer
silicates. The solid surface was hydrophobized by cationic surfactant
s with different surface densities and the surface modification was ch
aracterized by determination of adsorption excess isotherms, microcalo
rimetric experiments and X-ray diffraction. It was established that th
e surface hydrophobicity can be characterized by combination of adsorp
tion and calorimetric data. The degree of swelling on different adsorb
ents can be controlled not only by X-ray diffraction experiments, but
also by the surfacial entropy functions calculated from the free entha
lpy and enthalpy of adsorption.
