Abstract
This paper reports the evaluation of extreme-pressure activity of lubr icants containing alkyl para substituted benzyl sulfides. These additi ves exhibited good activity by increasing seizure and welding load com pared to the base fluid. A polyethoxylated chain in para position on a dditives has been found to enhance the load-carrying capacities of the emulsion. Electron probe microanalysis was conducted in order to dete ct the sulfur distribution on the wear scar surface of compounds compa red to the behavior of a commercial disulfide.
