Abstract
The article deals with ionic crystals of the type A(+)B(-) where the c ations are alkali, NH4+ or Tl+ ions and the anions are the triatomic l inear entities SCN-, OCN-, N-3(-) and HF2-. These crystals show a larg e variety of crystallographic phases which are based on the orientatio nal degrees of freedom of the linear anions. The structure of the anio ns, the crystal structures, phase diagrams and phase transitions are r eviewed.
