Abstract
The structure determination of the title compound, C13H11NO2, establishes t
he tautomeric keto form of the salicylaldimine. The asymmetric unit consist
s of two crystallographically independent molecules which are essentially p
lanar and are approximately orthogonal to each other. Strong intramolecular
N-H ... O and intermolecular O-H ... O interactions influence the conforma
tion of the molecules and the crystal packing. Intermolecular hydrogen bond
s link the molecules in infinite chains.
