Abstract
In continuing the programme to evaluate urban air quality, results register ed in the second biennium (1995-1996) of study are reported together with t hose obtained by analyzers operating at new base stations "Villa Dante" and "Minissale": the first one realty represents the blank of the city while t he latter one may be considered at relatively high risk to join the observa nce of Italian legislation. Despite the increased circulation speed due to new policemen and important roadworks such curbs and traffic islands, base stations "Archimede" and "Minissale" must be considered at risk in order to have legal conditions for stopping or limiting traffic, even if a signific ant diminution in concentration values of pollutants have been obtained fro m 1994 to 1996. In addition data obtained in 1994-1996 period have allowed us to examine the cyclic trend for carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide ove r the mostly urbanised Messina.
