S. Matsumura et al., Preparation of octyl beta-D-xylobioside and xyloside by xylanase-catalyzeddirect transglycosylation reaction of xylan and octanol, BIOTECH LET, 21(1), 1999, pp. 17-22
1-Octyl beta-D-xylobioside and xyloside were prepared by direct transglycos
ylation reaction of xylan and 1-octanol using purified xylanase from Aureob
asidium pullulans. 2-Ethylhexyl beta-D-xylobioside and xyloside were also p
repared in the same way. The maximum yields of 2-ethylhexyl beta-D-xylobios
ide and 2-ethylhexyl beta-D-xyloside were 110 and 54 mg/g xylan, respective
ly. The proposed mechanism for production of octyl xylobioside and xyloside
involved the reaction of xylan and octanol by xylanase to produce octyl xy
lobioside and xylotrioside, the latter of which was simultaneously hydrolyz
ed by xylanase into octyl xyloside and xylobiose.
