C. Khanongnuch et al., A non-cellulase producing strain of Bacillus subtilis and its potential use in pulp biobleaching, BIOTECH LET, 21(1), 1999, pp. 61-63
A newly isolated strain of Bacillus subtilis produced beta-mannanase when c
ultivated in a medium containing either locust bean gum, konjac mannan or g
uar gum as a sole carbon source. In contrast, xylanase was produced only wh
en oat spelt xylan or wheat bran was used as a carbon source. The culture s
upernatant, which contained both beta-mannanase and xylanase, was used to b
iobleach crude paper pulp to 50% gain in brightness.
