Yj. Deng et al., CAPILLARY ELECTROPHORETIC SEPARATION OF ESTROGENS USING ANIONIC SULFOBUTYL ETHER BETA-CYCLODEXTRIN, Analytical communications, 34(5), 1997, pp. 129-131
The determination of estrogens is important for the diagnosis of repro
ductive diseases and for monitoring the normal process of pregnancy. P
revious separations of estrogens by capillary electrophoresis have emp
loyed a combination of cyclodextrins and surfactants. This paper descr
ibes the complete separation of five estrogens, 2-hydroxyestrone, 2-me
thoxyestradiol, estrone, estriol, and 17 alpha-estradiol, using sulfob
utyl ether beta-cyclodextrin as the buffer additive. In this case, the
separation can be accomplished with good efficiency without the addit
ion of a surfactant or organic modifier to the run buffer.
