Abstract
The dipole moment functions, mu(e)(R), have been determined for the iodine E0(g)(+)-B0(u)(+) and D0(u)(+)-X0(g)(+) transitions over the regions R = 0. 31-0.48 and 0.305-0.45 nm, respectively, from the spectrally resolved emiss ion of the E and D states. Single rovibrational levels of the E state have been pumped by optical-optical double resonance technique via the B state. Rovibrational levels of the D state have been populated in the collision-in duced E-->D transition under approximately single-collision conditions. The absolute values of the dipole moment functions have been deduced with use of the known Einstein coefficients for the E, v(E) = 0 --> B, v(B) and D, v (D) = 0 --> X, v(X) emissions. The D <-- X transition absorption coefficien t at lambda = 203 nm has been measured, k(I2) = 42 +/- 4 cm(-1) atm(-1), an d the value of mu(e)(D-X)(R) = 6.1 +/- 0.3 D (R approximate to R-e(X) = 0.2 67 nm) has been obtained as well.
