K. Rissouli et al., A NEW-TYPE OF TRIPHOSPHATE GROUP - CRYSTAL-STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF CO2LIP3O10, European journal of solid state and inorganic chemistry, 34(2), 1997, pp. 221-230
Single crystals of the title compound were synthesized and the determi
nation of the atomic arrangement was performed with a final R value of
0.033. The structure is compared to the isotypic series Co2LiP3O10 -
Ni2LiP3O10 given by Erragh, Boukhari & Holt (Acta Cryst. (1996). C52,
1867). This structure is mainly characterized by a framework of P3O10
groups and CoO6 octahedra creating channels parallel to the b axis whe
re are located the lithium atoms in an unusual square plane coordinati
on. The anionic component of this arrangement, the P3O10 group, has an
internal symmetry not yet observed in this type of condensed anions.
The study of the magnetic susceptibility and specific heat indicates t
he existence of ferromagnetic chains antiferromagnetically coupled at
low temperature.
