Advanced mesh generation and update methods for parallel 3D computation of
complex flow problems are presented. The complexities of the class of probl
ems targeted include complex geometries, unsteady behavior, and moving boun
daries and interfaces, such as those encountered in fluid-object interactio
ns. Parallel 3D simulation of 1000 spheres falling in a liquid-filled tube,
and other computations, are presented in this paper to demonstrate the cha
llenges involved in this class of flow problems and the methods developed t
o address these challenges.
