Acromoldavicus skrjabini (Nesterov & Lisetskaya, 1965) Nesterov, 1970
was found in the rhizosphere of cultivated and wild plants in thr Nort
h and North-East of Iran. Light microscopy and scanning electron micro
scopy of these specimens and of three females from Spain provided new
information on the morphology of the anterior end, in particular the '
'guarding pieces'', and the amphids. The stoma is very different from
that of Cephalobidae, and it represents a strongly derived variation o
f the typical cephalobid stoma. Lacking detailed information on the re
lated and possibly synonymous genus Kirjanovia, Acramoldavicus is prov
isionally accepted in the subfamily Kirjanoviinae, this subfamily bein
g nevertheless transferred to the family Elaphonematidae.
