Batches of cysts from a population of Globodera rostochiensis and a po
pulation of G. pallida were stored at -80 degrees C and 4 degrees C. S
amples of 50 cysts were taken periodically and the hatchability of the
eggs was tested at 20 degrees C. Storage for 4 years at 4 degrees C s
everely reduced the hatchability of both populations. In contrast, the
number of juveniles hatching from cysts kept at -80 degrees C did not
change over a four-year period.
