Abstract
Excess molar enthalpies and excess molar heat capacities of the binary mixt ures {x 2-ethoxyethanol, or 2-propoxyethanol, or 2-isopropoxyethanol, or 2- butoxyethanol, or 2-isobutoxyethanol + (1 - x) n-octane) have been measured at 298.15 K, Results have been compared with UNIFAC and DISQUAC calculatio ns. Excess enthalpies are positive and do not differ very much in magnitude for all systems. Both excess enthalpies and excess heat capacities are pos itive and rather large, UNIFAC and DISQUAC models reproduce the experimenta l data fairly well. However, excess heat capacities are better correlated b y DISQUAC. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
