A retrospective epidemiological survey was made of hemophylia A and B incid
ence rate in boys of Moscow for 1971-1995. There were 209 cases of hemophyl
ia A and 54 of hemophylia B. The morbidity was estimated per 10000 neonate
boys born alive. This estimate is recommended for standardisation and appli
cation in RF Hemophylia Centers. No growth tendencies for prevalence of hem
ophylia in Moscow boys were found. As seen by the age of diagnosis in three
time subcohorts, early diagnosis of hemophylia has improved significantly:
100% of the patients with hemophylia were identified by the age 13.5, 10.5
and 3.5 years in cohorts 1980-1984, 1985-1989 and 1990-1995, respectively.
75% of the cases are now diagnosed at the age 6-12 months. Further progres
s of hemophylia early diagnosis depends on the quality of medico-genetic co
nsulting and introduction of molecular-genetic methods of examination.
