Mf. Macnicol et Ca. Ludlam, Does avascular necrosis cause collapse of the dome of the talus in severe haemophilia?, HAEMOPHILIA, 5(2), 1999, pp. 139-142
Arthropathy of the ankle joint is commonly observed in people with severe h
aemophilia. A review of the radiological appearance of ankle arthropathy pr
ovides evidence that the changes in the talar bone of the ankle joint are p
robably due to avascular necrosis. This may arise due to impairment to the
arterial supply, as it enters the talar neck, secondary to the increased pr
essure at the time of haemarthroses.
