An original high-temperature version of the boiling-point method is develop
ed for the determination of the saturated vapor pressure of metals and allo
ys. The values of the vapor pressure are obtained for copper and tin in the
temperature range from 2073 to 2373 K; they agree well with the known data
. For the first time, under the same conditions, the vapor pressure over co
pper-tin alloys of different compositions is measured. In discussing the ex
perimental results, the probability of structurization of tin vapor in the
form of polyatomic complexes and the negative deviations of the behavior of
Cu-Sn alloys from ideal is noted.
