Abstract
Schiff's bases (II) were prepared from respective 2-amino-3-carboxyanilido- 4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo [b] thiophene (I) and different arylaldehydes which were treated with diazotized sulfanilamide to give (III). The newly synthe sized nine compounds were evaluated for local anesthetic and antimicrobial activities. Many of the compounds showed significant antimicrobial and loca l anesthetic properties.
