DFA-oriented assembly relation modelling

Design for Assembly (DFA) is an important subset of concurrent engineering. It involves the assembly constrains while designing. Nowadays, many effort s are focusing on del eloping of DFA expert systems integrated with CAD. To satisfy the information requirements of these DFA expert systems, this pap er puts forward a DFA-oriented assembly relation model composed of a Functi on Relation Model (FRM), Geometry Relation Model (GRM) and Connecting Relat ion Model (CRM). All these concepts are discussed in this paper, and a real product is taken as an example to show how to apply this model in DFA expe rt systems.
