Some physical properties of the Al-Pd-Mn icosahedral quasicrystal are drast
ically changed by inhomogeneous strain distribution, as exemplified for the
electrical resistivity and the Vickers hardness. In order to reveal the in
trinsic properties of the Al-Pd-Mn icosahedral alloy, the study on the rela
tion between the strain and the properties was investigated. By the full an
neal treatment (1000 K, 50 h), the anisotropies bf the electrical resistivi
ty and the Vickers hardness are found to annihilate significantly with decr
easing anisotropic strain distribution. And the intrinsic properties are es
timated by the extrapolation from the relation between the strain and the p
hysical property to the no strain state.
