Doppler echocardiography in normal Persian cats

This study reports the peak flow velocities across the atrioventricular val ves and outflow tracts of the heart of eight clinically healthy, pure Persi an cats. The mean flow velocities (cm/sec, av+/-SD) for the mitral valve an d the left ventricular out flow were 120.80+/-32.42 and 142.20+/-38.31, res pectively, and those of the tricuspid valve and right ventricular out flow tract were 67.20+/-8.60 and 69.20+/-13.76, respectively. The flow velocitie s were similar to those reported in dogs, horses and men.
