Severe refractory hemorrhagic cystitis secondary to chemotherapy and/or rad
iation may be a significant clinical problem for which we currently lack a
definitive noninvasive treatment. While the efficacy of hyporbaric oxygen t
herapy for hemorrhagic cystitis has been established in adults, its role in
children has yet to be defined.(1-3) To our knowledge we report the first
successful use of hyperbaric oxygen in a child with severe hemorrhagic cyst
itis refractory to conventional treatment.
