Abstract
Parameters of central and intracardiac hemodynamics were investigated by ul trasound and radionuclide methods in healthy volunteers and patients with c ongenital atrioventricular block without signs of heart failure. The study of cardiac cycle structure by doppler echocardiography with compute; analys is of data allowed to establish novel compensatory hemodynamic mechanisms. Patients with congenital atrioventricular block and bradycardia had shorten ed time of isovolumic contraction. This was accompanied by increase of ejec tion time; The latter in combination with elevated peak ejection velocity d etermined significant augmentation of stroke index. Increase of total durat ion of cardiac cycle caused by bradycardia in patients with congenital atri oventricular block occurred sorely at the account of prolonged diastole whi le duration of systole did not:change. Prolongation of diastole was due to combination of increased filling time and unchanged time of isovolumic rela xation.
