Np. Nikitin et al., Characteristics of the process of late remodeling of the heart after myocardial infarction and their value for prognosis, KARDIOLOGIY, 39(1), 1999, pp. 54-58
Echocardiography and doppler echocardiography were used for the study of la
te cardiac remodeling in 59 patients who had undergone an acute myocardial
infarction. Patients were divided into 2 groups depending on the presence o
f chronic heart failure after 6 months of follow-up. Comparative analysis s
howed that the late left ventricular remodeling could be adaptive and disad
aptive. Progressive left ventricular dilatation with transition to a more s
pherical shape and development of eccentric hypertrophy with progressive ri
se of myocardial stress were characteristic of patients with unfavorable co
nsequences of acute myocardial infarction., Regression model was created,wh
ich allowed to identify patients at increased risk of development of heart
failure after myocardial infarction.
