Abstract
Layer-by-layer assembled multilayer films were obtained on the surface of q uartz slides and gold electrodes by alternating deposition of partially qua ternized poly(4-vinylpyridine) complexed with. [Os(bpy)(2)Cl](+/2+) (PVP-Os ) with two kinds of polyanions, poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) and p oly[aniline-co-N-(3-sulfopropyl) aniline] (PAPSAH). The modified electrodes show electrocatalytic response for the reduction of nitrite. The different electrochemical behavior of these two types of electrodes caused by differ ent polyanions is compared. The potential application as amperometric senso rs for nitrite is anticipated.
