A numerical analysis has been performed to stud the mass transfer character
istics of the chemical addition system for a nuclear power plant. The trans
ient concentration profile of the chemical additives and the required time
to inject the additives from the chemical injection tank have been investig
ated using a low Reynolds number turbulence model. Calculations were also p
erformed with a disk placed at various locations along the centerline of th
e chemical injection tank to investigate the amount of reduction in injecti
on time and to propose an optimal design of th chemical injection tank.
