Be. Bouma et Gj. Tearney, Power-efficient nonreciprocal interferometer and linear-scanning fiber-optic catheter for optical coherence tomography, OPTICS LETT, 24(8), 1999, pp. 531-533
A nonreciprocal fiber-optic interferometer is demonstrated in an optical co
herence tomography (OCT) system. The increased power efficiency of this sys
tem provides a 4.1-dB advantage over standard Michelson rotary optical junc
tion that is required in circumferential scanning systems. These advancemen
ts have permitted the clinical implementation of OCT imaging in the human g
astrointestinal tract. (C) 1999 Optical Society of America.
