Abstract
A resonant plasma converter for tin atomic particle analyzer, created for a n open magnetic trap AMBAL-M, is presented. A flow of charge-exchange atoms from the main plasma passes through a hydrogen plasma target, where they u ndergo partially the resonant charge-exchange and are transformed into posi tive ions. High efficiency of the charge conversion in a wide energy range is reached, pollution of the main plasma by heavy impurities is excluded, t he analyzed particles do not lose energy on acquiring the electric charge. The formed ion flow is analyzed for energy by a 30 degrees electrostatic an alyzer, and after accelerations are registered by a multichannel detector m ade on the MCP basis. Experimental researches of the plasma converter have shown that the chosen plasma are source provides a controlled change of the target linear density in the range of (0.2-2).10(14) cm(-2) at low ion tem perature and Frank-Condon atomic concentration of hydrogen. It permits to r each high transformation efficiency of atoms into positive ions in the ener gy range of 20-20 000 eV, limited from below by an ion scattering process i n the plasma target.
