Abstract
The Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Special Steels (Zaporozh'e) hers developed a technology of production of carbide steel - a composite ma terial for cutting tools. When using this material, the durability of tools increases 2-5 times, in comparison with steels R18, R6M5F3, R6M5K5, and R9 K5. Industrial tests of punches in cutters for mining combines, hydraulic m onitor attachments, drilling bits, and deforming dies of carbide steel have shown that their durability is close to the durability of hard alloys whil e their production costs are lower.
