Abstract
Paul Schroeder was born about 125 years ago - on May, 19th 1873. He essenti ally influenced the development of children's and adolescents' psychiatry. From 1925 until 1938 he was head of Leipzig psychiatric university hospital where he beside other things founded a specific "department for adolescent psychopaths". We particularly emphasized the importance of connecting the fields of psychiatry, neurology, psychology, paediatrics and educational th eory. Here he also demanded to establish separate chairs for children's and adolescents' psychiatry. In 1937 he was elected president of the Internati onal society for child psychiatry.
