Abstract
We consider the problem of estimation of the standard deviation sigma and t he process capability indices C-p and C-pm for a normally distributed proce ss. The problem is addressed with the objective of obtaining optimal estima tors under the classic criterion of minimum variance unbiased estimation, a s well as under the Pitman measure of closeness.
